For the first time, La Ciotat Shipyards has carried out a comprehensive survey among the 29 companies having a permanent base in La Ciotat to determine the overall sales and the related number of jobs of the shipyards. At the end of 2018, those companies have together declared 619 permanent jobs (excluding seasonal workers and subcontractors) and a consolidated annual revenue of €129 500 000 ex. Tax*.
This outcome is coherent with estimates and confirms the good economic health of the local industry.
Mr. Saussol, CEO of La Ciotat Shipyards comments : “At a time when we are hitting the accelerator in our economic development, with the simultaneous launch of our 4000t platform and our yachting village, I found it necessary to take stock of the current situation in terms of turnover and jobs, which are the two most prominent indicators of our economic success. I thank all the companies for their collaboration. More than the strength of our economic sector, I also note an employment/sales ratio higher than the average in the French industry, thus demonstrating the high potential of our activities in terms of job creation”.
This survey will now be conducted each year in order to monitor more accurately the development of the shipyards.
*Only the company Orange Marine did not wish to answer the survey.
