Mr Gerard Larcher’s official visit , on August 31st 2018 , on La Ciotat Shipyards’ site , was intense and exciting.
For half a day, the President of the Senate, guided by Mr Patrick Bore, Mayor of La Ciotat and President of La Ciotat Shipyards, along with Mr. Jean-Yves Saussol, CEO of La Ciotat Shipyards, visited different facilities and workshops to meet with several on-site companies such as IxBlue and ID Yachting (L’Atelier d’Isabelle). That was an opportunity to discover the know-how and expertise of these operators, for which La Ciotat Shipyards is well-known. Mr. Larcher was also able to watch the spectacular flooding of the great dry dock, which is dedicated to the refit of Mega-Yachts of unlimited size.
After returning to the reception venue under sunny skies, guests, local decision makers, journalists and on-site operators were able to attend the screening of a movie revealing the global ambitions of the Shipyard in the refit of Mega-Yachts. The morning was punctuated by speeches, in which, Mr. Larcher, Mr Bore, Mr Saussol or Mr Deflesselles, Deputy of the 9th district of Bouches-du-Rhône, praised the success of the re-industrialisation of the shipyard, and emphasized the importance of collective work in this achievement.
The visit ended with the signature, 24 years later, of a new protocol reaffirming the will to continue the re-industrialisation of the site and approving the creation of a 4000 T platform dedicated to the refit of Mega-Yachts. This protocol was signed by the representatives for La Ciotat Shipyards shareholders, as well as by the State representative, Mrs. Marie-Emmanuelle Assidon Delegate, Prefect for equal opportunities, and Pierre Tidda, representing the employees.
