La Ciotat Shipyards joined on February 4, 2020 the “Water Revolution Foundation”, the first independent, international, science-driven, non-profit organisation started from within the superyacht industry that is taking the lead to neutralise its ecological footprint and preserve the world’s precious oceans.
Being located within the natural setting and the biodiversity of the Golfe d’Amour (home of huge posidonia meadows), and the nearby Calanques’ National Park, our shipyards are already among the most virtuous for their environmental footprint. For example, Painting afloat has been prohibited for more than 10 years, and our platforms are systematically equipped with the latest-generation water collection system, in order to prevent the discharging into the sea of polluted materials.
Apart from having simply a “defensive stance” consisting of mitigating the adverse effects of the project on the environment, our company is now committed to implementing a project which could be a model in terms of sustainability. We are determined to demonstrate in practice that it is possible to reconcile profitability and the creation of hundreds of jobs for the local community with delivering a positive impact on the environment. We believe this is the only way we can develop a sustainable and competitive business model in the yachting industry where environmental concerns are justifiably on the rise.
And we think that we are stronger together, with others industrials, to develop an “eco-friendly” yachtism all around the world.
